In life, we love to celebrate firsts…we celebrate our first car, first job, first child and whatever in our lives that we take as ground breaking. We want to celebrate one of our favorite doctors, Dr. Shelley Dunson-Allen on two firsts.
- She was recently named as Chief of Staff for Wellstar North Fulton Hospital the first woman to ever hold this position.
- She is also the first African-American woman to ever grace this position.
This is ground-breaking and history in the making as we applaud the movement embracing of gender and race diversity in the medical industry.
In her new role, Dunson-Allen will develop and implement plans alongside the medical staff, participate in reviews of the hospital, serve as a member of the hospital’s board and chair the Medical Executive Committee.
Before being named Chief of Staff, Dunson-Allen worked with midwives to offer a holistic approach to pregnancy and birth, including water births and cesarean sections when necessary. She also performed minimally-invasive, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery at the hospital.
Dr. Dunson-Allen has been a remarkable blessing to the community and we celebrate with her and her family in this major accomplishment. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to the practice in making sure that each patient receives the care that she deserves.
