Amanda Zimmerman is delighted to be part of Providence Women’s Healthcare. Even as a child, Amanda felt drawn to the nursing profession. During nursing school, while beginning her OB rotation, she knew she wanted to be a CNM. Originally from Illinois, Amanda relocated to Atlanta to attend graduate school at Emory University, where she graduated in 2015.
Amanda has a broad background in nursing with work as a charge nurse in a variety of high-acuity medical/surgical units, as well as work in antepartum, postpartum, and the newborn nursery in a Level III perinatal center. Amanda also enjoyed serving new graduate RNs and senior nursing students as a primary preceptor, as the students made the transition into their careers.
Before joining Providence, Amanda worked in a dual Perinatology/Midwifery practice. Amanda has experience in both high- and low-risk pregnancy and birth, including vaginal twin deliveries and water birth. Pregnancy and childbirth are such powerful and precious events, that Amanda considers herself blessed to be able to take part in these life-changing moments. Amanda enjoys continued care for patients in the postpartum period and with general female reproductive care. She believes in shared decision-making and truly informed consent, where her patients are empowered to make the best decisions for their health. Having won the coveted Daisy Award for exemplary patient care, Amanda is known for excellent care of her patients and desires that all achieve optimal health and wellness.
Amanda is happily married to her high school sweetheart. They have one son, Xavier. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, reading, cooking, and is an educator and practitioner of essential oils.
